Virgil Celestino launched his career at Mercy Hospital in 1990 and has been an exceptional nurse ever since. He has served in many departments over the last 22 years, including the Acute Orthopedic Unit (when it existed), Perioperative Service, and Surgical Acute. For the past 5 years, Virgil has been a valued nurse of the Trauma Observation Unit. Additionally, he has been the recipient of multiple BRAVO Awards and has been serving as a Trauma floor charge nurse since 2008.
Virgil has been an invaluable member of the Scripps Mercy family and we are recognizing him for the care he provided to a “beloved son.”
The parents of a trauma patient poignantly wrote, “I can’t tell you as parents what it meant to have Virgil care for our son. We flew out of the state to be here and he made us feel at home. The care he gave our son was truly AMAZING. He is a total asset to the Scripps Team. Thank you Virgil – you made our stay a good one.”
