September 2014 Honoree
virgil ong, RN
Virgil is the Team Leader for Maternal Child Care. He serves as a role model, collaborates to effect change, goes above and beyond, and creates an environment for learning. Virgil's DAISY Award nomination came from a physician:
"There was a patient (six days old) on the Pediatric Unit admitted for worsening jaundice. Virgil volunteered to attempt a difficult blood draw on the dehydrated infant. He was able to offer advice on the best method and site, explained the options and risks to the baby's mother, and worked effectively with the resident, floor RNs, and lab to get the job done. The mother was grateful and appreciative."

Thank you, Virgil, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
