Her skill in administering care is matched only by her incredible warmth and empathy.
Virginia, the night nurse at Reeves Rehab Center, showed exceptional care and kindness during my 10-day stay.  As a patient, I have experienced firsthand the extraordinary level of compassion and professionalism that Virginia brings to her role, and I believe her service truly exemplifies the qualities the DAISY Award honors.

Throughout my time at Reeves Rehab Center, Virginia was a constant source of comfort and reassurance. Her skill in administering care is matched only by her incredible warmth and empathy. There were many nights when I felt vulnerable, struggling with pain and uncertainty, but Virginia was always there with a calming and encouraging presence. She took the time to explain each procedure thoroughly, answered my questions with patience, and made sure I always felt understood and cared for.

One specific instance that stands out was when I had gone through an entire day shift without being able to eat because of a scheduled surgery. When Virginia arrived at the start of her shift and reviewed my chart, she immediately realized that I had not eaten all day. She quickly verified with the operating team that the surgery had been canceled due to the late hour. Without hesitation, she sprang into action to make sure I got something to eat before the next NPO order went into effect, less than four hours away.

Virginia went above and beyond by using her own funds to purchase a meal for me from the Bistro inside the hospital, complete with an ice-cold Dr. Pepper. I was overwhelmed with gratitude for her thoughtful and selfless act, ensuring that I did not go a full 24 hours without food.

This nurse–patient bond only grew stronger from there. The very next night, after I returned from a late operation, she had a lunchbox ready and waiting for me. And after my second surgery, she surprised me again, this time with a slice of pizza and wings that the staff had ordered. After two long days of surgery and recovery, that kindness meant more than I can express.

These gestures may seem small to some, but to me, they meant everything. They made a painful and frightening experience feel manageable. They reminded me that I was not alone.

It is rare to find a nurse who is both exceptional in clinical knowledge and deeply compassionate in care. Virginia treats every patient as her top priority, no matter how busy or exhausting her shift may be. She approaches every task with professionalism, grace, and a genuine heart. It is clear she truly loves what she does and cares deeply for the well-being of every patient she encounters.

Virginia has made a lasting impact on my recovery and on my life.
