Our patient will be going on hospice, meaning she has less than 6 monthsto live. Her husband's birthday was approaching, and when she was askedwhat we could do for her that day, she said she just wanted to get herhusband a birthday cake.
The nurse caring for the patient relayed the problem. Jenny then took herown time and money and bought a cake, candles, and a card for our patientto give to her husband for his birthday. For a little background, this patient is chronically ill and bed bound. The husband was moved to tears. I can't think of a better example of DAISY behavior.
