Ms. Jones always embodies the ICARE principles through her integrity. As a veteran, her approach to the information being taught gave me confidence and allowed me to gain her trust. Ms. Jones is dedicated to the mission of the VA in providing quality care to veterans through evidence base practice projects that benefits the veteran population.

Ms. Jones is an advocate for nurses and veterans and is truly veteran-centric by equipping the staff and ensuring they are competent in their practice to meet the veteran’s needs. She is committed to providing excellent service in all that she does and is an example and role model to others. Not only does she embody the ICARE principles through her work ethic and dedication; but she does it with compassion by taking time to assist veterans when they are in need of clarification on instruction etc, and going the extra mile to assist veterans as well as her colleague in whatever capacity she can. She advocates for the veterans by ensuring the content taught to veterans is appropriate for the individual. She demonstrates excellence by always striving to improve the quality of content provided to the veterans through her role as an educator by ensuring the content provided to the employees and veteran are current and evidence-based.

I nominate Ms. Vivian Jones for this award not only because I am thankful for all she has done to assist veterans through educating and equipping staff with the necessary tools to care for the veteran; but she consistently demonstrates the ICARE principles.
