Vivian Sotelo Ornelas, RN

My 71-year-old father has never been sick or hospitalized in the 36 years I have known him. He was in a skiing accident where he suffered multiple brain bleeds that stabilized, but he was in rough condition. I am his daughter and also a nurse, and I was so impressed with Vivian and her compassionate and caring nature towards both my father and me. She has the type of compassionate and empathetic personality that cannot be taught in school. She worked tirelessly to ensure my father was as comfortable as he could be with his injuries. She cared for my father in a way that made it seem she was caring for her own loved one. My dad was a little slow to respond, and she was patient with him. It felt safe for me to take an hour's break here and there and take care of myself during this stressful time, knowing that Vivian was caring for my father. I am truly grateful for all three days we got Vivian as our nurse. While the circumstances were challenging, I feel so lucky to have met the wonderful Vivian!
