Vladimir Regis is by far one of the most caring, compassionate, conscientious, and hard-working nurses I have ever worked with. Recently, he went incredibly above and beyond to help one of my patients. My patient, a middle-aged woman with autoimmune disease, called our office several weeks ago upset after being turned away from an urgent care center for COVID-19 testing in the setting of worsening viral symptoms. Vlad took her call, provided initial reassurance, and told her that he was going to make sure that she got the evaluation and testing that she needed. He came up with a creative multi-step plan in collaboration with a covering attending physician.
Within an hour, Vlad met the patient in the parking garage (to avoid exposure to other patients) to do a quick initial evaluation. He then arranged for her to get a COVID PCR test at a Northwell Core Lab PSC, followed by guiding her to another facility for a rapid COVID test to get an immediate diagnosis. When she tested positive a few hours later, Vlad again took the call, providing education and comfort to a patient who was now emotionally shaken. He called her several times afterward to check in on her. His incredible initiative, innovative quick thinking, clinical expertise, and caring nature not only provided her the emotional support she needed, but also the right testing needed at the right time, which allowed her to receive the time-sensitive monoclonal antibody infusion that quite possibly saved her life.
