VON has been instrumental in driving care experience, quality and the professional nursing practice in Vallejo. The VON is lead by Eugenia Ventura, Twinkle Vitug, and Jeanette Ferrer-Valladeras and the reason it’s grown from a Co-Chair to a Tri-Chair is due to the growth of the Council. The VON and it’s leaders from all of the units act as a safety net for the frontline staff. The nurses have easy access to them and they drive the standards of patient care. They are committed to maintaining and elevating the nursing practice. They are responsible for initiating and driving the Mentorship Program here in Vallejo where they wanted to retain the new grads that they precept/mentor.
This same Mentorship Program has been sustained and shared with regional offices to spread to other KP facilities. They are also instrumental in initiating and driving team development, resiliency, and competency and ensuring that the frontline are recognized for the work that they do for the patients and their families.
The VON is the reason why we are on the Magnet Journey and the work that they have put into getting Vallejo to this point is astronomical. They don’t stop until the work is done which is shown in the amount of personal dedication of hours, physical and mental work that they dedicate to the facility, patients and team members. The VON is being recognized for the trust, compassion, respect, and professional development that they each model on a daily basis. The VON has the most powerful impact in Vallejo and is a true DAISY Team.
