When I think of excellence, I think of Wanda.

Her caring and compassionate nature for all patients and staff are rarely matched. She goes above and beyond for her team when she is charge. Wanda is approachable, kind, helpful, and supportive in all aspects of her position.

It is no secret that medsurg has been dealing with some very difficult, abusive, and combative patients. Wanda is a true leader for all staff on the medsurg unit in these trying situations. She supports us by frequent rounding, offering breaks for coworkers with difficult patients, and even putting herself in harm's way when a patient is being combative. After a confused patient physically assaulted me and was becoming increasingly more combative, Wanda stepped in and helped not only myself, but the patient and checked on me frequently after the incident. She did not hesitate.

This job certainly has its challenges. Knowing we have a coworker and leader like Wanda on our side gives me the confidence to feel secure in my role with patient care.
