Where do I begin... I have always known Wanda as a wonderful nurse and incredibly caring person as I worked with her for years prior to her coming to PMH. This all became way more evident on Saturday when she was taking care of my grandma. The compassion she showed while making us aware of her lab results and x-rays, and making sure that we understood everything that was going on, went above and beyond the call. Yes, my grandma was very sick, however, complete comfort measures were not where we were at quite yet. The IV antibiotics, Lasix, and albumin made her much more comfortable. Her WBC cad down to within normal limits, her breathing eased, and her edema lessened. She was able to enjoy time with family and friends and rest more comfortably since she wasn't struggling to breathe.
We could never begin to thank Wanda enough for being a true patient advocate. You are truly where God intended for you to be. As I sit here at her bedside, I have you to thank for more days of making memories. Yes, it is up to the Good Lord when her last day here on earth will be, but until then, you are responsible for making some of those days more comfortable. With all this said, our family would like to say Wanta is truly deserving of this DAISY Award recognition.
