Wanda started working on the Senior Behavioral Wellness unit at Palm Bay Hospital since it first opened its doors on August 29, 2016. It has been a pleasure as her Nurse Manager to see Wanda grow in her role as the veteran night shift RN. She is the only original RN who was hired before the unit opened who still remains on the night shift team.
Wanda consistently demonstrates her dedication to exceptional care which goes in tandem with our goals for patient experience. She is always available and willing to meet the needs of our patients and their families. She is a strong patient advocate and does everything in her power to provide compassionate and safe care to our patients. Wanda has a gentle and calming spirit which is especially important when caring for patients with mental illness. She identifies that "like attracts like" and for these reasons, the kind and caring ways she interacts with patients and fellow associates is what she receives in return. Frequently, patients will comment to me that they see Wanda as their night shift angel. She collaborates with her team on night shift and is well respected by all associates on her unit. She has effectively learned how to use her emotional intelligence when communicating and collaborating with others. She is a role model on night shift and frequently precepts new associates on her shift. She successfully leads her team on night shift and is a valuable asset to the team. Wanda is an Extraordinary Nurse.
