Wayne Fleming, RN

Nurse Fleming is one nurse who is unforgettable. He always knocked on my door before entering. Once told to come in, he would enter and not only tell me what pills he was giving me, but also explain what each medication might help with, while encouraging me to check with my doctor to be sure. It always turned out that Wayne was correct. I felt I was in competent hands.

Wayne never minded me asking a lot of questions. I wanted to know where he went to school and whether he had completed a two-year program or a four-year university program. Wayne was always forthcoming with information and thoroughly explained the differences. He always arrived with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. He often talked about how much he loved being a nurse. He helped turn my sad days into brighter days and made me feel, not through words but through his actions, that I mattered.

He asked me about my family and helped me focus on how important my life was to them. No matter how busy he was, he always returned to make sure I was okay physically and mentally. One thing I'm certain of is that my health and happiness mattered to Wayne.

Wayne even reminded me to remind my son to check my car to make sure I had antifreeze in it. Once Wayne knew I was being discharged, he asked questions about my safety to make sure I would be okay.
