Wendi Ezell has been a Pentec nurse for around 9 years. She has been my mentor and friend for the last 5. No matter what issues come up, Wendi is always willing and ready to step in and make sure all our patients are taken care of. Wendi has always been available to me for advice, encouragement, a place to vent, a word of wisdom, and a steady source of information. Her patients all love her. Anytime I've had to fill in for her, they want to be sure she is coming back. Wendi covers a large territory, driving 5 hours one way to see the majority of her patients. She never complains because she loves her job.
My father coded at home. I was in Louisiana on the way to see a patient. While on speakerphone with my daughter parked on the side of the highway, I text Wendi. Over the next 30 minutes that I was on the side of that highway, Wendi had gotten with our Director and she covered my patients, including the one I was on the way to see for the next week! Wendi did not even consider the work it would put on her or the distance she would have to drive.
One of those patients was COVID-19 positive. She didn't hesitate. Wendi is exceptional! She has shown me that not only is she an amazing team member, but she is also an amazing friend. Because of her willingness to see my patients, I have been able to be present with my mom during the loss of my dad. Wendi's heart gave me room to be able to grieve and know my patients were in the best of care. I've worked closely with Wendi over the past 5 years and am proud to call her teammate. She is an asset to the Pentec family. I am also honored to call Wendi my friend; she is one in a million.
