Wendi doesn’t work weekends but was willing to come in just because she said that she wanted to do the dressing change because she felt the most competent.
I have been in the burn unit for almost a month. Wendi changes my dressings when I go to the tank and in my room. She is always very positive. She is always working very hard but never makes me feel any less important than anyone else. There were grafts put on my left hand. These grafts were an amniotic tissue and were new to this floor. The dressings were set to be changed within a set number of days from the surgery. She doesn’t work weekends but was willing to come in just because she said that she wanted to do the dressing change because she felt the most competent. That is when we knew that not only is she an amazing nurse and excellent at her job, but she has a heart of gold. She truly cares about her patients. Her outstanding qualities are compassion, productivity, and efficiency without ever compromising the quality of care. I admire her. She will be very hard to replace when she decides to retire. Hopefully, that won’t be for a very long time.
