Since January 2022, my wife has received life-saving care from several doctors who practice in your hospital. While our experiences there have been overwhelmingly positive, one individual recently far-exceeded our expectations, and I would like to bring this interaction to your attention. 

My wife was experiencing extremely heavy and unexpected bleeding. The doctor’s office sent us to your emergency room to be seen. It was an emotional visit; on top of our fears of a recurrence of cancer, my wife was worried we would be in the waiting room too long and would have to deal with cleaning up an embarrassing mess, which would have made a rough day much worse. 

One of the employees in the reception area of the emergency room that day, Wendy Burt, recognized the possibility, and immediately after checking her weight and blood pressure, instructed one of the other staff members to move my wife back to a bed where she could be seen quickly by a doctor, and have easy access to take care of what was needed. 

This was a small thing for Wendy to do, compared to all the other things they did that day, but it was hugely significant for us. Wendy took her job as a medical professional to the next level by not just providing care but providing it quickly and compassionately. 

As we were leaving the hospital, Wendy saw us walking through the waiting room and stepped away from their desk to check on my wife. Wendy gave her a big hug and said some encouraging words before we left.
