Wendy is an exceptional nurse who demonstrates all the qualities of a true STAR. She is very optimistic and energetic and brightens the day with her personality. Wendy is always willing to learn and asks for feedback, making her a strong colleague to count on. She advocates for patients and coworkers with dignity and respect and makes every effort to provide a healing environment for all.

Wendy is very persistent in reaching patient goals and surpasses any challenge as an area of opportunity to improve the quality of care. I look forward to nursing hand-off, not because I get to complete my 12-hour shift, but because I leave with peace of mind and trust that my patients are in good hands. Most recently, she stayed after handoff to help with patient care and completed a newborn metabolic screening that had already been assigned to me. She could have left like most of the day shift crew, but in seeing the level of acuity increase during shift change, she stayed and jumped right back into work. In situations where most nurses run in the opposite direction, Wendy goes where help is in need, and that’s what separates her as a true hero.
