Wendy LaPorte, BSN, RN

Wendy consistently goes above and beyond her commitment to patient care. As an oncology nurse navigator, she exemplifies dedication, compassion, and professionalism in every interaction. Much of the work nurse navigators do happens behind the scenes, yet Wendy ensures that no detail is overlooked and no patient need goes unmet.

Wendy is a very passionate nurse. There are so many behind-the-scenes tasks Wendy performs that most people may never see. When dealing with the “Oncotype” test for breast cancer patients, Wendy went out of her way to make sure the surgical oncology staff was included in the discussion to help bring the issue to all the involved departments. Wendy also had a psychosocially distressed patient who could not afford a sleeve for her lymphedema. Wendy was relentless in reaching out to any organization that would lend this patient a hand in purchasing the sleeve. Through her efforts, Wendy was able to see that the patient's need was met. These are only a few things that I could speak about. Wendy goes above and beyond every day to care for our breast patients.

I would like to nominate Wendy for The DAISY Award in recognition of the exceptional compassion and dedication she demonstrates every day as the Oncology Breast Nurse Navigator. Wendy consistently goes above and beyond to provide outstanding patient care while serving as a trusted advocate for patients and their families. Her clinical expertise is matched by genuine kindness, empathy, and a willingness to support patients during their cancer journey. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and takes extra time to ensure patients feel heard and cared for. She has an unwavering commitment to quality care and advocates for her patients daily. She takes time to listen, answer questions, and ensure that each patient feels valued, respected, and understood.
