I have had the pleasure of working with Wendy for the last few years while dealing with many complex wounds. Wendy is an expert in the field of wound management and takes excellent care of our patients. She is always available, even on her days off, to answer questions and provide guidance. When I am caring for a patient with one of these complex wounds or ostomies, I know she will provide the care and teaching necessary to guide the patients, their families, and the nursing staff so that the wounds heal and the psychological burden is reduced.

For example, I recently had a patient who suffered from perforated diverticulitis. I had to give this patient a diverting ileostomy so that the colon anastomosis could heal. However, due to his body habitus, he was having a difficult time managing the ileostomy. Wendy was able to come up with a unique solution so that I did not have to bring this patient back to the operating room and revise the ileostomy. Further, she walked the patient's wife through the arduous task of managing his midline wound and the ileostomy. It is because of her expertise that the patient was able to avoid a return trip back to the operating room. I can rest easily when Wendy is caring for one of my patients because I know the patient is receiving extraordinary care. Lastly, this is only one example of the multiple times she has provided excellent care to my post-operative patients. Wendy is an amazing nurse and deserves to be recognized!
