She recognized that my anxiety was a major contributor to my recovery process and didn't make me feel like it was all in my head. Wendy made a huge difference in my experience post-surgery!
I was on the Med-Surg floor after I had my first-ever surgery. It was a very rough recovery! Wendy could have simply read my chart, given out medications as needed, and loved on with her day. However, she advocated over and over all day long for me to get a proper pain management plan, and she advocated for my mental health through it all, too! She recognized that I was having a lot of anxiety related to my pain and my recovery, even when I didn't see it myself. Wendy shared her personal experience without dominating the situation. She recognized that my anxiety was a major contributor to my recovery process and didn't make me feel like it was all in my head. Wendy made a huge difference in my experience post-surgery! I was supposed to be discharged on Friday. Wendy advocated for me to stay another night because my pain was not fully under control, and I was still struggling. Wendy helped develop a medication plan along with the doctors that helped me get ahead of the pain and feel like I could manage it. Wendy is the biggest reason I will always come back to Piedmont Macon Medical Center for any future procedures!
