Though I don't like being sick enough to be admitted, I always look forward to seeing Mrs. Wendy.
I have been admitted several times since March due to Gastroparesis, then subsequently, due to complications. Nurse Wendy is absolutely phenomenal in her career. She is the exact type of nurse who makes being admitted so much better. She has taken care of me multiple times, and we've joked around about how the name card for the room I'm in should just go ahead and have my name engraved on it.
She has always been such a bright spot during dark times, dealing with my declining health. She is so compassionate and caring, and she makes you feel seen and heard. During insomnia spells, she would come check on me and chat with me. I tend to not have visitors, because I'm admitted often. Wendy has been like a surrogate family member. She exemplifies the exact type of healthcare professional that you always hope to get or hope your loved one gets. She always checks on me, any and every time I've been admitted to the CDU, even when she wasn't assigned to me.
When she sees my name, she always comes to check on me. I am so appreciative of how she has always taken time to make sure I'm okay. Though I don't like being sick enough to be admitted, I always look forward to seeing Mrs. Wendy. She genuinely feels like family at this point. I absolutely adore her. She deserves recognition for being such a phenomenal nurse and person. T
hank you, Nurse Wendy! I appreciate more than you'll ever know!
