I have been working with Wendy Robinson for several years and have had the opportunity to see what a kind and caring nurse she is. She is an important member of the "eye team" in the OR and is seen as resource for other staff. Many of her patients are awake during surgery and are often nervous; she is able to calm them down. She talks to them as she preps their eye, and lets them know what to expect and how to communicate with us if they are having a problem. She keeps families informed during longer surgeries. In the past year she has started doing medical missions, first to Haiti and then to Africa. She is already planning out her next mission. She is an excellent nurse and I am proud to work alongside her. Nominated by Michelle Lilly, Assistant Nurse Manager
Wendy is a consummate professional who takes world class care of our patients through one on one interaction with them, and also by training a number of others to do this. Whenever she is in the operating room, I know that I can relax and focus on the surgery, because with her, even complex cases go smoothly (whether it is during the day or on the weekends when she volunteers to take call so patients needing emergent eye surgery can still get terrific care). In addition, not only does she bring this level of expertise and compassion to HMC, she also has taken personal time to bring her formidable skills to patients in Africa who otherwise wouldn't have access to care. I cannot image a more deserving person for this award. Nominated by G. Atma Vemulakonda, Physician
Wendy is one of the nurses who comes to work every day and quietly does her job, and you don't realize how much she does, and how you depend on her until she is not there. The staff on the Ophthalmology service recently experienced that very fact when Wendy was off for a month on a medical mission. Wendy is a pleasant, kind, caring individual, she is a great teacher, and takes an active role in helping new staff, and the periop students, as well as offering assistance to others on a regular basis. I know the surgeons are always happy to have her assigned to their cases, and have a lot of confidence in her ability to make any difficult case go smoothly. In Ophthalmology many of Wendy's patients are awake for their procedure. Wendy's calm manner and expertise quickly puts them at ease and helps them through the surgery. Wendy often covers for the RN3 of the service, and regularly volunteers for retinal call. She not only has expertise in the Ophthalmology service but many other services as well. Wendy is a great resource for OR staff and surgeons, I am pleased to nominate her for the DAISY Award, she is very deserving, and I would be so proud to have her work acknowledged and honored by this award Nominated by Lynda Stirling, RN
Always friendly and helpful. Goes above and beyond when needed for best patient care. Nominated by Todd Klesert, Physician
When I walk into the OR and see Wendy, I know that my day will go smoothly. And even if there is a glitch, Wendy actively seeks solutions. My patients often remember her by name (and compliment her when I see them in the office for postoperative visits). She is unusually competent and plans ahead for my OR needs. Nominate by Shu-hong Chang, MD

Wendy is consistently friendly and outstandingly pleasant to patients and staff. She is very competent and knows the different complexities of different types of eye surgery exceedingly well. Mostly her overall attitude towards staff is what makes Wendy deserving of this award. Nominated by Mark Slabaugh, Physician
Wendy is an excellent resource for the operating room with her exceptional dedication to the eye service. Nominated by Heather Sliger, co-worker

Wendy is a tremendous resource in the eye service. She is level and able to teach others her craft with ease. The surgeons love having her on their team. Even when Wendy is not in the eye service, she proactively helps other staff members and takes responsibility for unit tasks. On top of being a great nurse in our department, Wendy has taken her ability overseas to help those in need. She recently completed a mission in which she serviced a third world country for around four weeks. She is dedicated to helping others. While we missed her in the O.R., we knew that she was making a difference in the world and that was awesome! Kudos to Wendy! Nominated by Natalie Boltinghouse, RN3
She is amazing--always dependable, thoughtful, careful and knows what she is doing! Physicians, patients and her colleagues love her! Nominated by Jennifer Chao, Physician
Wendy Robinson is an incredible asset to the operating room. She is always polite, professional, and willing to help in whatever capacity she can. She is the nurse most people would choose to have for themselves or their family member. Furthermore, Wendy serves as a role model for the nursing profession and consistently works collaboratively to meet the needs of her patients in the O.R. setting.
Nominated by Taryn Curry, RN

Intelligent, hard-working, dedicated, reliable, gets what needs to be done DONE, does not need to be told anything twice, skilled, compassionate, excellent communicator, instills confidence on those who depend on her, kind to patients and their families, and fun to be around and work with. Wendy is a superb, outstanding, wonderful nurse. It's not possible to convey in words how good she is; to fully appreciate her professional abilities, one must be blessed with the privilege of working with her. Nominated by James L. Kinyoun, Physician
