Whitney made sure I always had extra blankets, snacks, and even on our last day brought my husband and me cinnamon rolls.

When I first met Whitney, my room was full of nursing staff due to me having a postpartum hemorrhage. After all of the commotion, she stayed to help her colleague with my care. While being a team player, Whitney had excellent bedside manners and was so polite and kind. Her communication was excellent, and her patience was immensely appreciated.

Whitney was my nurse every night after that, and for that I was grateful. Every time she came on for her shift, I felt at ease knowing my night would be smooth, calm, and judgement free as I felt like such a needy patient. She always came up with a game plan that worked best for my daughter and me. Whitney always explained what she was going to do with my daughter and that helped ease my stress and anxiety. Her communication was wonderful and made my night less stressful; as this was a very difficult hospitalization due my daughter being born prematurely and having many post surgical complications.

Whitney went above and beyond for my family and me. She made sure I always had extra blankets, snacks, and even on our last day brought my husband and me cinnamon rolls. Each time she came into my room I felt comfortable being able to carry on a conversation with her no matter how vulnerable the situation.

As a Registered Nurse myself, and my husband being an executive in the health care system, you can sometimes forget to always be kind and empathetic in such a difficult field theses days. Whitney easily reminded us of the power of connection, the importance of empathy, and the meaning of patient centered care. The patient not only being myself, but my newborn as well. She advocated for my baby when needed and assisted me with the communication to other health care providers.

My husband, daughter, and I are beyond thankful for receiving such great care from all of the nurses during my hospitalization and my emergency. Whenever I am having a difficult night at work, I am always going to take a moment and remember how Whitney treated my family and I with hope that I can make my patients and their family feel the same. We will forever be thankful for the excellent care Whitney provided us.
