Whitney Dombroski was nominated simply by the mere nature of her personal character. She has all those traits noteworthy of a good nurse including compassion and integrity. Personally, Whitney had to overcome quite a few hardships in her life and has worked as a special education teacher for quite a few years. During her senior semester in the nursing program, she was thoughtfully engaged with all her patients in the clinical setting. The main aspect that stood out for this student was that every instructor who had encountered Whitney had stated remarkably positive comments about her! Clinically, here is an example of what we found to be significant regarding Whitney as a student nurse:  Whitney was taking care of an elderly patient who was clearly in an abusive relationship with a family member. Each time her instructor would go to the unit to assess Whitney's progress, she would inform her instructor about her worries for the safety of the patient. Collaboratively, with the RN, Whitney worked to get case management involved. This was an arduous task but proves Whitney's caring nature to uphold the safety of patients.
