My mother was admitted to the hospital in December with renal failure. It was during her admission we received the dreadful news that she had cancer. We were devasted, to say the least. My mother was admitted to the Palliative Oncology Unit. This is where we met our nurse. She came in with the brightest smile and genuine concern for my mother. She was the absolute BEST. We were blown away by her love and compassion for her patients. She would listen to our every concern. She spoke in ways we could understand and explained everything in simple terms for us. She made sure she had a "listening ear" when my mom needed it. Not only did she support my mom, but she was also helpful to our entire family, even offering resources to my niece who is taking CNA classes.
As a family, we felt that this nurse became a family member; we wanted to say "Thank You" to her.
Thank you for your encouragement that got us through these tough times. Thank you for your compassion you show to your patients and their families. Thank you for being so wonderful, giving, and caring, and making each one of us feel like family. My mom was in the very best hands. We all felt safe with you as my mom's nurse. Thank you for touching our lives. You have a heart of gold. With my mom's many procedures, you never let her become fearful for a second because you were with her every step of the way. You comforted my mother like she was your own, and for that, we are so grateful and why you are a true DAISY Nurse. What you do is a gift from God. Not everyone has the gift, and not everyone should have the power. But you, Whitney Hughes, have the gift and wield the power compassionately. You truly are an angel put here to perform miracles.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
