Whitney Lemon was such a blessing to my mother and our entire family. My mom had been incredibly sick, septic shock requiring intubation and pressors, at another facility. We requested that our mother be transferred to Stormont Vail Health. Very early in the morning, Mom was admitted to the 4th-floor Pavilion. Whitney was the nurse who took care of my mom that day. Whitney was a breath of fresh air for our entire family. She was so kind, caring, knowledgeable, respectful, and considerate. She actually spoke to Mom and listened to what she had to say. She took the time to answer every single question that we had, and trust me, there were many. Whitney made sure that Mom's pain was under control at all times. Whitney made us all feel at ease after a nightmare of a week.
Mom's potassium had been very low when she was transferred to Stormont Vail Health. Whitney was so timely in checking for the results of the repeat test. She made sure to contact the physician to get the replacement started right away. Mom also had to have a CT scan done of her abdomen and this amazing nurse didn't even give us time to ask for results but was willingly giving them to us as soon as they were available. She kept us informed of every recommendation the physician ordered or made. Mom had to have an MRCP later that same day, and the results became available right before shift change. Both my sister and I stepped out for a few minutes. Whitney took it upon herself to call me before her shift was over, to give me those results and the next steps as well. She didn't have to do that, but she did.
There truly are no words to describe the care Whitney gave my mom. We felt as if we could sit back and be daughters, and trust in the care and skill that Whitney possessed. She exemplifies what it means to be a nurse. I will never be able to adequately express my gratitude towards this young lady and will never forget the care she gave. We were so blessed to have her care for our mother! (who by the way made a full recovery and is back to her ornery ways, thanks to the wonderful care she received at Stormont Vail Health).
