I worked with Whitney in May when she was assigned a patient with end of life care. Although this was not her comfort zone she agreed to take the patient and was eager to get more experience with care of the dying patient. Her care and compassion of the patient and his family was extraordinary. She was able to provide a large room and a family bed to allow the family to have more contact with the patient. She coordinated with social work, child life and the MDs frequently throughout her shift. She was excellent at supporting the patient's sister with her grief and sadness. Whitney even changed her schedule so she could return the next day to provide consistent care for him.
