Whitney McFarland, RN

I wanted to pass out amazing kudos to Whitney McFarland, RN, from 8SW. She came in extra last night to help out on 8SE and voluntarily took on 6 admits herself. She is a real rockstar, and she single-handedly and exponentially increased the morale of the ER staff, who had been down to 4 nurses since 7 pm and originally faced 12 plus holds and seriously bogged down. This kind of support and sentiment truly deserves praise, and I wanted to bring this to your attention. Whitney has always helped her colleagues, other departments, and, of course, the patients time and time again, and this time, she has truly gone above. Some of the patients she had taken into her care were looking at ER length of stays pushing over the 30-hour mark, the longest being 34 hrs. 39 minutes. Due to her generosity and help, these six individuals did not end up spending another night in the ER.
