My wife was a patient on the 4th floor at Doctors Hospital in January due to a stroke. Whitney M was not her nurse, but we had interactions with her a few of the days that my wife was a patient. Whitney answered the call light almost every time my wife or my family pushed it or when my wife, who is confused, would set off the alarm on the bed. Whitney explained she was the charge nurse in the unit and made sure that everyone was checking in on us as well as checking to see that we were taken care of. I had a lot of questions because I had never dealt with anything like this before. I have been married to my wife for 35 years and I was so scared that I was going to lose her. Whitney sat down in the chair and talked with me and my children for a while. During that time, she answered our questions and calmed our hearts. We laughed for the first time in days because of her wit and charm. We were so thankful for not only her knowledge but for the moment of lightness that she provided. I never once felt like she was rushing out of the room or was too busy to be there. I also noticed that when she came into the room, Whitney spoke to my wife with respect and was very gentle in the way she handled her. My wife has made tremendous improvements since that time thanks to the care of your staff and the therapies that were set up for her when she left the hospital. All of the nurses she had were great and I know that is because they have a truly wonderful leader in charge nurse Whitney M. My children and I will always remember the nurse with the elephant tattoo on her arm! My wife has collected elephants since childhood, so we believe God sent Whitney to us in our time of need. Please know that if you have Whitney M working in your hospital, your patients and your other employees are in good hands!
