Whitney clearly has passion for nursing, but she also embodies true kindness & empathy for her patient & their family.
Our son has several complex medical problems & we were faced with making a hard decision for him when we ended up at Primary Children’s Hospital again. Whitney was there through the hardest days. I spent eight days in the PICU trying to decide if doing a tracheostomy was the right thing for J. It was so painful to make the decision because we tried so hard to avoid the tracheostomy for four years. She was there with tissues & Diet Dr. Pepper & helped me grieve through this decision. She answered my many questions & advocated for me so I could get answers for the things she couldn’t give me. She hugged me when they took my precious boy to surgery. After surgery I was so scared to look at my baby because this decision changed everything, but she was there & told me he looked really good & put her arm around me. She gave me courage to see my child for the first time in a different way. She took excellent care of both of us. My son’s room was always tidy & she made sure his bedding was clean. She spent time talking to J & made sure he was comfortable. Because of her, I could leave the hospital knowing he was safe because of her, I could breathe & get some sleep. She found out that he loves Finding Nemo & made him a cute Nemo picture for his PICU room. Whitney is the kind of nurse I want taking care of my child. She went above & beyond during our time in the PICU. Whitney clearly has passion for nursing, but she also embodies true kindness & empathy for her patient & their family. Thank you, Whitney, there is no one out there I would trust to put their hands on my child more than you.
