Last week during leader rounds I met the most grateful patient. His wife immediately started talking about the wonderful care her husband received last night. She became tearful and said, "When Whitney left this morning, I felt like I was losing a friend. She provided such excellent care, very attentive and caring. She answered all of my questions, I don't know what we would have done without her last night. She was amazing!"
It doesn't stop there. Whitney continues to express our mission. One of our nurses was feeling overwhelmed with her assignment along with the pending unknown admission. She expressed her concerns to Whitney for a listening ear. Whitney not only offered to help but she switched what we call a "walkie-talkie" patient whom she had for a more critical patient. These acts of kindness, attentiveness and willingness to support her team and the patients we care for truly expresses our mission in a way that moves the mission forward.
