Whitnie cared for an elderly gentleman from Lake Wales who was brought in by EMS for difficulty breathing. He was treated and discharged but could not get a family member or friend to come pick him up. Whitnie called the cab company to arrange transport home because the patient was willing to pay his own fare and the cab company quoted a price of $70. This the patient could not really afford but he was willing to pay. Whitnie did not want this patient to have to pay this amount and as she was going home early because of low census, she volunteered to take the patient home herself. She drove 22 miles out of her way to help this fellow.
Whitnie is always kind-hearted towards her fellow workers and her patients and this is a prime example.
