If it hadn’t been for Will’s kindness, our afternoon would have been very different, filled with stress, anxiety, and worry about my mom and her health in the cold. It would have been a very bad day.
I wanted to let you know of the exceptional good works carried out by one of your nurses, Will Swanson. My 93-year-old mother was hospitalized for pneumonia, and Will was her nurse on Sunday and a float nurse on Monday, so he was helping us get her ready to go home. I spent the night with her and parked her car in the parking lot where construction was happening. When I drove around to pick her up at the circle on Monday noon, Will had her curbside and bundled and ready to go in the car. Imagine my chagrin when he waved and said “Pull over you have a passenger side rear wheel that is FLAT!” So we got Mom out of the cold and into the car while we brainstormed what to do. He tried to see if maintenance had any canned air to get us to a station, but No. Then he looked at me and said, “I just had a flat on my truck. Let’s see if there is a spare, if, so I’ll just change it!” Well, we did, and HE DID (Photos included)! In less than 15 minutes, the donut tire was on, and we were headed home down by Pesotum. If it hadn’t been for Will’s kindness, our afternoon would have been very different, filled with stress, anxiety, and worry about my mom and her health in the cold. It would have been a very bad day. Instead, we got her home and situated where she was able to get on with getting well. We had to buy a new tire but thanks to Will, that is all! In a time when we hear a lot of doom and gloom, and lack of civility, we wanted to celebrate this kindness shown by one of your employees. He showed his care and concern without hesitation and did it with humor and grace. He didn’t have to do a thing, and it was certainly not expected, but he did. He will forever be in our hearts.
