Bill has a true passion for nursing and works with the multidisciplinary surgical team to provide and ensure the highest possible patient outcomes and safety. He acts a patient advocate/educator during the patient's surgical experience and his DAISY Award is a true reflection of this.
Bill was nominated for preventing a patient from having a retained surgical item. Bill and another staff member received an Eagle Eye Award for preventing a potential sentinel event. Bill and his colleague were relieving the day shift when the surgeon started to close, Bill notified the surgeon there was an item in the abdomen that needed to be removed before they closed.
