Our son has recently been a patient in Banner Del E Webb Hospital in the Critical Care Unit for 16 days. The team of doctors and nurses that cared for our son was informative and compassionate. It takes a special person to work in this Critical Care Unit. As the days went by we became familiar with the staff, but there was one nurse, John Wright, that was outstanding. John always recognized us when we arrived in the unit, even though he was not assigned to our son's case. When he was assigned to him, he went far beyond what we would have expected from a nurse. He became familiar with our family and always made time to answer any questions and was very compassionate with them.
At one particular time our grandson, who is from out of state came to the hospital by himself and John happened to see him and could see that he was distressed. Even though he was not assigned to our son that day, he took a minute of his free time to talk with him. Before our grandson left to go home, we needed him to relinquish his right to make a final decision regarding our son as he would not be here to monitor his father's condition. John talked and he listened, then he made the decision to relinquish this to his grandfather.
Now that is a loving and compassionate nurse. I hope that if we ever get in a condition like our son was in, there will be another John Wright around. We thank you John Wright, you are an outstanding nurse.
