Bill identified a patient he was talking to over the phone to need immediate care. He advised the patient to go to the Emergency Department.
The patient waited for several hours in the ED and decided to leave without being seen. The following day, the patient calls the advice nurse again and through Bill's persuasiveness and caring attitude, he convinced the patient to go to the ED once again, and the patient this time around, acquiesced.
In the ED, the patient was identified needing an immediate cardiac procedure. The patient underwent that procedure which ultimately saved his life.
During a follow-up appointment with the doctor, the patient acknowledged that the nurse on the phone saved his life. The doctor stated that the patient, "looked healthy and happier".
