March 2026 Honoree
William Sommerville, RN
Never in my life have I observed and worked with a nurse who was so professional, so competent, and so caring as we did when Phil took care of my father-in-law for 4 days. He possesses an incredible grasp of procedures and medications, and he was able to explain things perfectly.
Phil showed such respect for his fellow caretakers, for the doctors, and especially for his patient. He did everything he could to mitigate pain and discomfort, and he treated my dad with such dignity.
Phil is a consummate professional who handled every situation. As a fellow soldier, Phil’s maturity and calmness in a number of tedious situations displayed his experience as a combat medic from the battlefields of both Iraq and Afghanistan.
My father-in-law was in the hands of surely the finest nurse in the Henry Ford system. For this DAISY award, I cannot provide a higher recommendation.
