Early last year, an event happened that I will not soon forget. I was in an auto accident that resulted in my car being totaled and I experienced a ride in an ambulance as a Level 2 trauma. A cervical collar was placed and there was a significant scalp laceration. This time, I was not in control as the doctor, I was the total patient and had no control. As a result, I was anxious, nervous and all the emotions a patient is supposed to feel.
Upon arrival to the ER, the first face I saw was Bill Sweet. It was a Saturday and his day off - he was visiting a family member. Bill came to me to reassure me that my mom and sister were at the hospital and he personally took care of them. It meant a lot to me that Bill took the time to see my family's needs.
While I was in the trauma bay, Bill came back to check on me in order to keep my family aware of my progress. I will never forget what Bill Sweet did for me and my family. It was nice of Bill to take the time on his day off to provide me with the peace of mind that my family was kept aware of how I was doing.
He demonstrated exemplary care as a nurse, going above and beyond on his day off! I will never forget what Bill Sweet did for me that day.

I would like to take the time to recognize an exceptional nursing leader who manages the Beaumont-Trenton Emergency Department. It's not common anymore to find a team of leaders who step in, front and center to provide safe, quality, and adequate care to patients who are present in their hospital department.
Over the past year, I have seen Bill Sweet (Clinical Nurse Manager), helping his staff members coordinate and provide care to the patients who enter the emergency department. Whenever there is an influx in the patient census, multiple traumas, staffing deficiencies or any other matter, he responds and overcomes the difficulties.
Nursing and support personnel, collaborate with him as one partnership. Together they work as a team throughout the department to achieve one common goal, safe and quality care to all patients.
