Bill had many other patients come in but that didn't change the care he provided this patient.
Bill has been a nurse at VVMC for 15 years. There is not a day that goes by that Bill doesn't shine. His knowledge, and compassion, paired with his calm demeanor make him the perfect candidate for this award. Recently I was involved in an event and spoke with a gentleman who said he would never take his wife anywhere else except Valley View because of the "exceptional care" she received in the ER from Bill. He went on to explain how patient Bill was with her and how he took the time to explain everything to this gentleman as this was a very complex situation. He said that Bill had many other patients come in but that didn't change the care he provided this patient. He said they always felt like they were Bill's priority.
Bill is also an instructor for VVMC's Handle and Care program. Again, he continues to help our staff with his training the same way he helps our patients. There are many, many things you can say about Bill as a nurse and as a person. There is one word that stands out and that is EXCEPTIONAL.
I hope you consider Bill Yetter for the DAISY Award. He exemplifies everything this award stands for.
