Wilma Manuel, RN on 4 Tower at Oakland Center, was nominated for a DAISY Award by one of her co-workers, who shared, “Wilma had a patient who was having episodes of respiratory distress secondary to COPD/CHF when he became anxious and scared. The patient was afraid of being alone when these episodes happened. During those times Wilma always made sure she was with her patient, reassuring him she would not leave him alone. He told her he did not know how he could ever repay her for what she had done for him by just being by his side.”

Wilma truly made a difference for her patient by not only caring for him clinically, but by providing the emotional comfort that he needed as well. She was very surprised to be honored with a DAISY Award. Wilma’s manager Kennetha MacKool, Site Lead Chris Fornal, President Joe Tasse and the associates on 4 Tower were proud to celebrate Wilma’s special DAISY moment with her.
