Wincy is a fine example of taking initiative and patient advocacy. Recently she had a patient who came in with a rare disease. The patient expressed concern about the fact that the illness caused her to have an electrolyte imbalance. Instead of ignoring it, Wincy drew a chemistry based on the patient’s concern which showed a critically low K+ requiring a K+ infusion. Had this not been caught, the patient could have had a serious event while under sedation. For her great work ethic and dedication to our patients and unit, she is a true DAISY Nurse. Due to her patient advocacy and the outstanding care she gives to all her patients, Wincy was recently given an award for Same Day Surgery Shining Star and the Doctor's Choice Award for outstanding patient care!
