Winnie was so good at helping him stay as calm as possible and reduce stressors. She was careful, quick, and reassuring.
We spent the last week inpatient on the Leukemia floor. The first full night we were there, we were greeted by one of your incredible nurses! Winnie introduced herself and became a quick friend. She was so kind and easy to relate to. We had a lot going on. High fevers, blood transfusions, high dose chemotherapy, and so many IV antibiotics and pills, I couldn’t keep track.

We had a lot to worry about, but with Winnie, the worry seemed to go away. She had complete control of the situation and stayed on top of everything, so we didn’t worry so much. We were blessed that week to have her for not one, but 4 nights! We feel a little bad she had to care for us so much (we were kind of needy). But so comforted knowing she was our nurse!

Friday night, our son had to have his port reaccessed for the week… No matter how many times we do this, there is always so much anxiety and fear. Winnie was so good at helping him stay as calm as possible and reduce stressors. She was careful, quick, and reassuring.

Another one of our challenges is taking pills. We would struggle for hours getting a few pills down and Winnie would come in in her calm, persistent, reassuring way and stand at the bedside until our son finished all the pills! She always knew how to get things done and knew just what to say and how much to push!

One night, while we were inpatient, in addition to all of the other things going on, our son needed Lasix…. Winnie insisted on helping with some of the bathroom needs so we could get some sleep. We were never a bother- she was always there, ready to help!

She even went so far as being the alarm clock for my husband the morning he needed to catch an early flight back home from the airport. Not only did she take amazingly good care of our son…. She took such good care of us parents.

So, sooo grateful for this wonderful Nurse! She deserves so much praise and gratitude. I’ve been a nurse for 15 years, and the amount of love and care she showed towards our family was tremendous. I’ve never met a nurse quite like her! You can tell she is passionate and loves what she does. Heaven bless her for being a light to so many families as they go through some of their darkest hours.
