We spent 4 days with all of the wonderful nurses, and they all continued to impress me.
My husband and I received the scary news that our almost 2-year-old little boy was being admitted. As soon as we stepped onto the unit, we were greeted with a friendly smile and brought right to our room where we could put what few things we had with us down. The nurses then explained what the next steps were as they brought us to a separate room where they would be placing his IV. Not only did the nurses allow us to remain with our son and participate in his care, but they also allowed my mom to be there. All the nurses were so sweet and compassionate to all of us. They consistently kept checking in on my husband and me to see how we were doing while also doing everything in their power to comfort our little guy through a very scary time for him.
We spent 4 days with all of the wonderful nurses, and they all continued to impress me. Whether it was a nurse we were specifically working with or ones who we were getting to know from walking our son around the nurse's station or pulling him in the wagon from the unit. They all made a point to say hello to our friendly little guy and to check in to see how he was doing. During our stay, our son became quite attached to that little red wagon and the nurses allowed him to take ownership of it by keeping it in his room. When we had to go down for an ultrasound, you guessed it, he rode in that little red wagon. On the day of discharge, not only did all the nurses that we had been working with say goodbye to us but so did the nurses who got to know him in the halls. Our son got to make one final ride in that red and that was to our car.
I can't get over how helpful, compassionate, empathetic, and amazing all these nurses were. I can't say enough positive things about our time at RRMC and on the pediatric unit. They took a very scary time for us and made it 1000 times easier.
