I would like to thank this student nurse and share my story of why this nurse is so special: Mr. Jowhill Xavier is a quiet, reserved student who speaks very little. However, on a clinical unit, his actions spoke loudly. When he gets his assignment, he systematically goes to the room, introduces himself to the patient, asks if he can do anything for him/her right now, and proceeds to clean off the overhead table, raise the head of the bed, open the window shades and just talk to the patient.

When he has to do his assessment, he is precise, gentle, and focuses on getting it down correctly the first time. Nurses who worked with him tended to ask for him the next week. He is a reliable nurse that you can depend on who will show up on time, quietly do his work, finish on time, and be ready to do anything else you ask of him. He does not want any recognition, but he deserves it.

Thank you, Xavier, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
