The humanity and love for the neighbor with which Ximena cared for my mother gave her back the dignity that she had lost in this process and the assurance that she was not alone.

Along with saying hello, I am writing to you because I want to share my experience as a family member of a user of the ostomy patient unit of our Network. I work as administrative coordinator in the Department of Intensive Medicine and a month and a half ago my mother, a chronic ulcerative colitis patient, underwent an emergency ileostomy in another healthcare center in Santiago, where she was discharged, without the necessary education or the indications or previous conditions to handle this type of medical situation, which generated us moments of great anguish and helplessness as a family and especially in her, since her new reality was full of uncertainty and fear. Thanks to the generosity of a group of wonderful and tremendously professional people, my mother was treated by the ostomy patient nursing team of our network at the Cancer Center. Beyond their high technical quality, which is indisputable, the humanity and love for the neighbor with which they cared for my mother gave her back the dignity that she had lost in this process and the assurance that she was not alone. I would like to extend my thanks and congratulations to Mrs. E.U. Ximena Meneses, who leads this team of excellence, and especially the team of Nurses and TENS, who have assisted my mother since that day. Many times we wonder where God is, I can say with certainty, that day we witnessed his presence in this world. Sometimes we must leave our comfort zone to know what the reality of health institutions at the national level is like and often the reality is quite unpleasant compared to what we are as an institution. I would greatly appreciate it if you let everyone know how grateful we are as a family and that they are professionals of excellence, but even more, that they are incredible women full of compassion for those who suffer, which go beyond professional duty.
