The patient's mother thanked Ya-chi for her company and dedication, and said to the supervisor that Ya-chi’s encouragement, education, and guidance worked better than the mother’s company.
Nurse Sue Ya-chi has a mild personality and is serious and responsible at work. After 4 years of employment, from a novice nurse to an expert, she participated in the JCI evaluation of the hospital, as well as self-professional improvement. She completed the degree of the second nursing skill and is in the care of patients. She is often affirmed by patients or family members.
She once cared for a 24-year-old female patient with peritonitis. She had an intestinal stoma placed after surgery due to the disease. Because this young patient was a professional dancer, she was unable to work for a long time due to the stoma on her body, and she was unable to do what she liked. Therefore, during the hospitalization, she was always depressed and often cried. During the nursing process, Ya-chi found the sadness and depression of the patient. In addition to regular visits, she increased her company time and listening. During this period, she often told jokes and funny stories to make the patient happy. She shared the care experience of the patient after entering the ostomy with the 24-year-old patient, and she took the initiative to ask the doctor to inform the follow-up treatment plan.
A lot of efforts had been made to make the patient feel a lot more relaxed, and she was no longer so confused about the future or unwilling to face her own physical changes. The patient's mother thanked Ya-chi for her company and dedication, and said to the supervisor that Ya-chi’s encouragement, education, and guidance worked better than the mother’s company; since Ya-chi and the girl were the same age, she said her company made the patient felt that she was supported and not alone. The mother said that she could comfort her daughter more. She also thanked the hospital for such warm nurses. Such a young but considerate nurse brings a lot of energy and care to patients or their families, which is worth recommending.
