My family would like to thank the whole Mercy Health Care Team for giving care to my father. The care that he was given had been great in both units he was in as well as the rapid response team. We would like to recognize Yana and acknowledge her. She was not assigned as his primary nurse, but he coded and they were able to revive him. While waiting for a room in the ICU, he was brought back to CIU after a CT scan, and he did not look too good. He looked very lethargic and his breathing was different, like a fish out of water. I told his primary nurse multiple times, but she said there was nothing that they could do.

Luckily, Yana stopped by that afternoon to check on him and noticed the change in his status. She assessed him, made him comfortable, and advocated for his failing status. She called the rapid response team to reassess him and called the doctors to make sure that he was seen immediately. Shortly after, they intubated him and transferred him to the ICU. Yana did not have to stop by the room and do what she did, but she did with her kindness, perseverance, and quick thinking, she saved him. Any acknowledgment or recognition would truly be appreciated as we need more nurses who are like her with a saving heart.

Thank you, Yana, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
