Yasmin Mohamed has helped me understand the procedures and the daily cares that my son receives from the nurses. Many times the nurses have tried to explain things to me through the interpreter but I have had ups and downs. Yasmin has given my family compassion, patience, and care that we have never received before. One morning was a particularly hard morning for me in the hospital with my son. I was nervous I did not completely understand many of the cares that my son was receiving. Yasmin happened to be my nurse that morning. When she read the chart she came into my room to talk to me. I had taken what seemed to be most of her morning talking to her. I was able to express my fears, my concerns, my worries. Yasmin listened. She really listened. She made me feel heard. Yasmin went above and beyond her role. After listening to me Yasmin took the time to explain things to me in a very clear manner. She came to my level of understanding, she made me feel valued. She made helped me understand that while I am my child's biggest advocate, I need to also trust the team of caregivers who come and take care of my son while in the hospital. Yasmin helped bridge the gap that was between me and the other providers. I am hoping that Yasmin is recognized for giving compassion, care and a listening ear on a day that I needed it the most.
