Yasmin Proctor, RN, MSN models the qualities of a DAISY Nurse Leader. She inspires nurses to provide compassionate care for patients and families and creates an environment where compassionate, skillful care thrives. Yasmin values diversity and creates a culture of inclusion, where all staff feel valued for their individual and collective contributions. She promotes a Just Culture and addresses systems issues that impact nursing care delivery. Yasmin co-leads the workplace safety efforts at KFRC and promotes a speaking-up culture, both related to the staff and patient safety. She holds staff accountable to high standards of care and reinforces evidence-based practices, which results in KFRC’s industry-leading quality outcomes. Yasmin is a champion of utilizing technology to improve health and care delivery, for example, the use of Pt Pal and the Calm app. She models financial stewardship of our KP members’ dues through her diligence with timely hiring, overtime management, and retention strategies. Yasmin invests in the development of her team by providing meaningful feedback and mentoring. She seeks the opportunity to provide meaningful recognition to the staff and her direct reports and connects staff to the profound difference they make in a patient and family’s experience in our care. She emulates a Caritas Leader through her engaged listening, and authentic presence, and provides a setting where compassion is valued, and patients, families, and staff are viewed through the lens of their humanity. Yasmin possesses the qualities of a transformational leader and uses her skills to encourage, inspire and motivate the clinical team to create meaningful improvements in care delivery, for example, HAPI prevention. She has earned the respect of the interprofessional team and magnifies respect for rehabilitation nurses as specialists and the significant contribution of the PCTs. Yasmin’s high degree of leadership competence combined with her warm nature warrant her recognition as a DAISY Nurse Leader.
