Yerko worked his magic. We are grateful for Yerko. You have a gift. Your kindness was incredible.
My sister was brought to the hospital on Christmas Eve. Nonresponsive. We spent the better part of the day in the ER. Things were not going well. She had a bladder infection, kidney stones, infection leading to sepsis in addition to her normal complications of cerebral palsy which added to all the drama. It took them some time to figure this out. Once they moved the stone and released the blocked urine it caused the infection to get worse. The plan was to flush her system. With liquids. There we additional complications and they couldn’t get her system to work. They ended up bringing her to get another CT scan at 2:00am Christmas morning and then to the ICU. My brother and I went to ICU to wait for her. This is when things began to turn. As I write this, I have tears in my eyes picturing Yerko meeting us in the hallway. “Are you M’s family?” “Yes”. “Follow me.” I will be taking care of your sister. She will come here. I will …. And he explained what he would do and that he does this all the time and that he would keep an eye on her and did we need anything. When my sister came back from the scan, she was still nonresponsive, however, Yerko was calm, confident and caring. This was the first moment since 10:00am the day before that I began to feel a bit at ease. At 3:00am we fell asleep in the ICU next to M with Yerko working his magic. We woke up at 6:00am. Yerko had coffee there for us and my sister was stable. Again, the stress level until we met this wonderful human was at its max. Yerko worked his magic. We are grateful for Yerko. You have a gift. Your kindness was incredible. We cannot thank you enough. You are making a difference.
