Yesenia is always a strong nurse and a supportive co-worker...this is a shining example of why she is a DAISY Nurse.
 
I had a very unstable patient in the ICU. She required a lot of care in a short amount of time, and Yesenia, as a break and relief nurse that day, was there to help. The patient had to go to MRI, and we had a new MRI IV apparatus to use. I did the in-service but never used it myself. While I got the patient ready, she took the time to review the video on how to set up the IV cartridges in the holder. With so much going on, it was amazing to have her accompany me and to make sure the pump was transferred correctly. This allowed me to concentrate on the patient and keep her safe. Once the patient was on CRRT the next day she was there to support me when I had questions (since I hadn't used the machine in a while). The patient took a turn for the worse and deteriorated late in my shift. The devastated family decided not to add any additional treatment. When the patient's heart slowed, and she passed away, Yesenia jumped in and asked if I wanted her to take care of the CRRT machine & disconnect it.

What a blessing it was to have her take over the mechanical side of things so I could concentrate on the grieving family. Yesenia always looks around and anticipates what she can do to help and offers to support whenever she can. I know I can always count on her, she is amazing!
